Milano iconic Excelsior Hotel Gallia has been closed for renovations for three years. Now the famed hotel on the Piazza Duca D’Aosta is ready for a grand opening later in 2014 as a Luxury Collection Hotel by Starwood.
The 5 star Excelsior Hotel Gallia is an hotel of impressive beauty, with a striking art nouveau façade it first opened its doors to guests in 1932.
The Gallia continues to represent one of Italy’s most celebrated and luxurious hotels and enjoys a privileged position in the center of Milan, overlooking the city’s magnificent Piazza Duca D’Aosta facing the monumental and elegant Central Station. With many people traveling to and from Milan using the new Italian high speed trains, the Gallia is perfectly located to become the luxury hotel of choice in the years to come. In addition the hotel is just a few blocks away from Piazza Duomo, via Montenapoleaone and the famous area named the “fashion quadrilatero”.
The renewed Excelsior Hotel Gallia has undergone a complete renovations of the historic building and an extension into a new wing located in a more modern block next to the one in art nouveau style.
Italian architect firm Marco Piva was appointed to execute the renovation works of the Excelsior Hotel Gallia. Admirers of the Gallia can catch a glimpse of the new works from the architect’s web site where a few previously unseen images are presented.
The Gallia’s renovation covers everything from the hotel’s rooms and suites to its gourmet dining facilities. In addition a full new wing has been added with the transformation of a neighbouring building. The newly developed block will feature a top level Spa and wellness center and a panoramic terrace bar and restaurant overlooking Piazza Duca D’Aosta.
The renovated Excelsior Hotel Gallia is now open.
